In 1975, Foothill Lemon Company established an insectary to mass rear Aphytis melinus, a parasitoid for California red scale. More than 50 years later, Foothill Agricultural Research, Inc. (FAR, Inc.) is one of the largest producer of Aphytis in the world. Since FAR’s founding, we have developed many innovative rearing techniques and processes. FAR’s research and development has resulted in a great increase in Aphytis production. Furthermore, our high inventory allows us to deliver an effective pest management solution at a low cost.  FAR, Inc. currently mass produces multiple beneficials at their facility and has participated in the research and development of many others.
